JING RESTAURANT
Trendy, hip and oh-so-happening

If you want your yin to touch your yang, I have a
restaurant for you. It’s called Jing, and it’s located
in Englewood on Greenwood Plaza Boulevard in
the new Landmark development. And let me add
one more thing: This is the place to be ... and to be seen.
The birth of Jing came about on a white paper napkin.
Written on that napkin was an idea, and that idea
gave birth to a restaurant, and that restaurant has come
to be known as Jing, short for Beijing.
That’s where the story really begins. In this country for
15 years, Jing owner Charlie Huang has come a long way.
He arrived in the States from China, landed in New York City,
worked in the restaurant industry there and decided to head
west and set up shop in Denver and Aspen. As a result, Little
Ollie’s and Asie were born, two area restaurants that have
been huge hits. Huang considers Jing, his newest venture,
the jewel of all his endeavors.
Once inside the restaurant, it’s easy to see why. The decor is
magnifique! The black-and-white contrasts symbolize the yin and the yang, translating into a graphic,
breathtaking illustration of everything
harmonious. The bar side of the restaurant
is primarily black, classy yet mysterious,
while the dining area is primarily
white, open and pleasing to the eye. But
wait — there’s more. Normally, restrooms
are not mentioned in reviews, but
in the case of Jing, I recommend taking a
restroom “tour” at least once before dinner.
The interior design of Jing was a collaboration
between The Leopold
Companies and Emiko Design.
As for the food, every item we tried
proved pleasing to the palate — from
the Miso Sea Bass to the spicy Thai
Basil Chicken. All dishes are prepared
with the freshest of ingredients, and the
flavors blend beautifully to create meltin-
your-mouth sensations. If your
tongue doesn’t pop for peppers, you
can’t go wrong with the Mango Lemon
Chicken or the lighter fare of the
Chicken Lettuce Wraps.
Jing offers the best of modern
Chinese food in an intimate setting. It’s
exquisitely prepared Asian cuisine with
meticulous attention to culinary detail.
Each dish is a work of art, a food stylist’s
dream. The sumptuous sauces add variety
and interest to the dishes and create
a wonderful combination of flavors that
is perfectly proportioned. Even the old
standbys, such as Chicken Lo Mein and
fried rice, are artfully prepared and sinfully
delicious.
For you drinkers, you haven’t tried a
martini ‘til you’ve sipped on Jing’s signature
cocktail, the Buddha Drop
Martini (garnished with a Buddha
Button ... who knew Buddha had a button?)
Your tongue hasn’t blossomed
until it experiences the “button.” If alcohol
is not your thing, order the nonalcoholic
version. Either way, a must try for
you and your tongue!
Charlie will be the first to tell you
Jing is not his baby alone. He’s joined
by two managing partners. The first is
Lawrence Yee, the former owner of a
large sandwich franchise in Colorado.
Completing this inventive team is
Michael Ditchfield. When not spreading
cheer throughout the restaurant,
Michael spends much of his time fulfilling
moral obligations to Third World
countries such as Ethiopia, Rwanda and
now Darfur in the Sudan. On occasion,
a night’s proceeds are donated to help
stop the genocide in Darfur.
